Week 10 completed

So I’m down half a pound this week,  I tried running once this week and while the foot didn’t bother me too much (slight pain) my cardio was very bad.  I think this had a lot to do with a sinus cold I’ve had recently.    Next week could be a very bad week for my weightloss, we are travelling back to the Maritimes for my sisters wedding and I’m never great at keeping myself on par when I travel.

My goal is to lose another 3-6 pounds before the end of  Week 12 and then start up P90X with the goal of starting 2012 under 200lbs, very lofty goal but hopefully not to far out there.

Week 9 done

Dropped 2.9 pounds this week so says the Nintendo Wii  (all weights during the 4hr body have been on Wii).   Not bad,  I only got down to the basement a couple of times this week to lift any weights and I honestly didn’t put much effort in so I doubt that has a lot to do with it.

My foot is doing much better, I’m hoping this weekend to get into one of the running stores and pick up a new pair of stability shoes so I can get back out and jogging next week.

Week 11 is going to be tough if not impossible to follow the diet strictly.    I’m going to be driving from Ontario to PEI and that always involves food.   Hopefully I can counter that by doing a lot of jogging while I’m there and being smart about my portion sizes and food choices.

Week 8 Done

Ok so week 8 completed.   That’s 2 months and 21 lbs.   I was hoping for a bigger loss this week but I guess with the injured foot I should be grateful that there was a loss at all.

On the injury front I got rid of the crutches after 2 days, and hope to be rid of the boot by the end of this weekend.  I’m able to walk around and the foot is a bit sore still but a LOT better than this time last week.

It looks like things are starting to slow down on the weightloss front here for me so I need to shake things up.  Hope to start back with the chest and arm exercises next week and may do a session of yoga once a week as well.

Updates and Injuries

I’ve managed to hurt myself again, only this time it’s not a nerve it’s the arch of my foot.   Wearing a cast and using crutches right now but I can feel it getting better and doubt that it’s actually broke (likely just pulled / bruised / sprained badly).    I hurt it running the other day and it was a major bummer.

If you want to follow my running (when I get going again) you can watch me on RunKeepers site:

Weightloss has been slow these past few weeks, but looks like it’s an pretty close pace to what I had in P90X, I think next week if I can get the foot to work with me I’ll start doing some weight lifting and just try and get some more muscle on to speed up the fat burn.

A new journey begins

OK – so it’s been a very long time since I’ve updated this page. What’s happened in the meantime you might ask? Well from a weightloss perspective, nothing good at all. I gained all the weight back, became very lazy, and am way out of shape again.  The major issue was that I stopped working out after my injury, then life got busy and I found excuses not to pick up the programs again.   Basically I fell off the bus, and hard.

From a personal perspective, I’ve gotten a new job, gotten married, bought a new house, traveled a bit, and several other items I’m likely forgetting.   It’s been a busy time, at times a little stressful, at others just a lot of fun – but during that fun I’ve neglected to take care of myself physically.

So where am I now? Well around mid-june this year I weighed myself and I had clocked in at 268 lbs, this is even heavier than when I started P90X! I decided to try something new, I wanted to see how much weight I could lose over the next couple of months by changing only my diet and doing a bit of running.

I moved to a no-carb diet:  The Four Hour Body which is essentially protein, veggies, and beans for 6 days out of the week. You get one day a week to completely go nuts and eat anything you want. My plan is to try and get down to 240 using only the diet and a bit of running then to start working out again with a modified P90X and adding a bit of carbs before my workout.

I’ll be posting over the next while to let you know how I’m doing and will try and pin some information on the page so you can see how I’m doing.

Insanity Day 22

Today was Insanity Day 22 – Pure Cardio + Cardio Abs. I’m still suffering through this nerve thing and it’s really affecting my sleep and workouts. I decided to day to do the Pure Cardio and skip the Ab’s. I had a bit of pain during the warmup (generally with the Heismans) and the stretches but the actual workout went pretty well I though.

We’ll see how I am doing tonight after the effects kick in.

HR Stats

Workout Time: 25 mins
In Zone Time: 22 mins
Max HR: 167 (I didn’t go very hard obviously)
Avg HR: 150
Calories: 360

Insanity Day 20 – Half Plyo

Today was day 20 and while my back is still hurting (turns out it’s the sciatic nerve not a pulled muscle) I thought I would give it a go. Only did the warmup, first circuit, and the first round of the second circuit before calling it a day. Wanted to focus more on stretching and may do some light yoga before bed as well.

HR monitor Stats:

Workout Time: 21 minutes
In Zone Time: 15 minutes
Max HR: 200 (that can’t be right)
Avg HR: 150
Calories: 309

Going to take tomorrow as a rest and stretch day, no running tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll be ready to go full out on Monday.

Injury Setback

So the back tweak I felt on Wednesday didn’t go away yesterday, and I missed the recovery day – which isn’t a huge deal as that day is mostly just stretching. I will be missing today’s workout as well however which kind of sucks but the good news is the back is slowly getting better.

All day today at work I’ve been getting up and going off to get some stretching in, and while I still can’t do everything I feel I should be able to I think with a bit more stretching tonight and tomorrow morning I should be good to go for the workout tomorrow afternoon – if not then then I will pickup Insanity on Monday (week 4) and go from there. I don’t intend to go back and try and make up the day’s I’ve missed, I simply have to mark them off as injury days and move forward.

Day 17 – Pure Cardio and hurt back

Today was supposed to be Pure Cardio and Insane Ab’s. I got through Pure Cardio without any problems but about 5-10 minutes into Insane Ab’s I did one of the jump movements and when I landed a large pain spiked me right in the back. I took a small break and tried to get back in but any time I jumped my back went wonky so I decided to quit for the day rather than really hurt myself.

HR monitor stats:

Workout Time: 30 mins
In Zone Time: 25 mins
Max HR: 171
Avg HR: 152
Calories: 465

Really hoping this is just a small tweak and that everything is back to normal tomorrow.
